Women of Letters is an afternoon that celebrates a diverse range of strong female talent whilst simultaneously raising funds for Victorian animal rescue shelter, Edgar’s Mission.
Co-curated by Marieke Hardy and Michaela McGuire, the monthly occasion brings together five of Melbourne’s best and brightest writers, musicians, politicians and comedians in celebration of the beautiful lost art of letter-writing.

It’s been far too long between drinks (and shows, and international tours, and books, and a new series of events in New York, and oh we need a lie down) but bestselling Melbourne literary salon WOMEN OF LETTERS is finally headed back to the River City! Join co-curator Marieke Hardy and host Michaela McGuire for their seventh Brisbane Women of Letters event at their adopted home The Zoo, Fortitude Valley, as they welcome an all-star lineup featuring: Acclaimed comedian and producer ALEX WARD Award-winning writer and author of ‘The Railwayman’s Wife’ ASHLEY HAY Esteemed Indigenous Australian author, historian and Aboriginal rights activist JACKIE HUGGINS AM, FAHA Acclaimed writer author of ‘Deeper Water’ JESSIE COLE Owner/manager of The Zoo and music industry icon JOC CURRAN Cult fashion designer GAIL SORRONDA ARIA award-winning singer-songwriter MEGAN WASHINGTON These brilliant women will all be writing ‘A letter to My Fork in the Road.’ There'll be wine, cheese plates and the studious penning of aerogrammes, all in homage to the beautiful lost art of letter writing. Dearests, are you staying warm? Would you like an all-encompassing embrace? How about joining your toasty compadres at Women of Letters as they return to the summery climes of the REGAL BALLROOM, where they will celebrate once again for your heart-pleasure the world of letters. So how about wrapping yourselves up on SUNDAY, JUNE 28TH and flinging yourselves with gay abandon towards this wonderful collection of women: Sex advice goddess and writer MAUREEN MATTHEWS Prolific artist, illustrator and Instagram Queen MINNA GILLIGAN ABC presenter and political mastermind EMMA ALBERICI Screenwriter and director CORRIE CHEN These incredible women will each be writing 'A letter to the moment I wish I could take back.' There'll be the usual wine/aerogramme-penning combo we’ve grown to love and a special DJ set from DJ Cornichon (aka Sara Retalick).
